    Monochrome Mini Competition # 69

    This is a MONOCHROME mini competition and it is open to all CiC members. It has an 'open' theme - any subject at all.

    Post your MONOCHROME (B&W) image in a new post below. Please change your post title to a name for your picture) (Click the "Go Advanced" button). Tinted images utilizing ONE colour are allowed. Colour images will be deleted.

    When we get 10 images a Mod will attach a voting poll, and any member may vote on it.

    After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared.

    Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

    If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thread and copy this text.

    Good luck.

    Please do not request criticism and comment (C&C) on your images when entering this competition as it could be unfair on other entrants

    Weaving a wicked web

    Would love some C&C on these two images. I am still more than a bit of a hack in this digital world and as I so aptly put in my profile, "coming into it kicking and screaming all the way....though tempered with the occasional smile when I do get it right."

    Hi Chris,

    As has oft been said; if C&C is the main aim, you really need to post in a C&C forum, not here in a competition forum.

    Posting here might get some C&C, but probably only after voting is finished, so not as quick, by which time most people will be looking at the new thread, not this one, so many will forget to come back and comment here.

    The reason we suggest only critiqueing after voting is because;
    if you post an image which someone likes and there's no critique, they might vote for it, but
    they might be less inclined if they have just read a list of 'improvement suggestions' potentially pointing out its weaknesses.

    I'm definitely not saying that a list of 'improvement suggestions' is necessary for your pictures, but you get the idea?

    Anyway, you can always do both I guess - there's no charge,

    Uh, oh! This is my "fault"!

    The instructions at the beginning of the mini comps say:

    "- If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post"

    I suggested that he take advantage of it because I was intrigued by his images.

    No fault; more a misunderstanding...and no biggie either or. Do I find the C&C Forum in Photography chat or in Member's Lounge, or am I not looking in the right place at all?

    Chris

    Go into the #Photo Commentary' section and post up your image in a new thread under either 'Nature & Architecture' pr 'People & Pets', depending on the subject matter.

    We have only these 2 main categoroes in CiC. Some web forums have, literally, dozens of categories. We've discussed that here is the past and the majority of us feel that, for what we are and what we want to achieve, keeping it to these two main categories works just fine.

    So, in summary - Go in to one of the two main groupings; Click '+ Post New Thread .. and off you go!

    Majestic old tree that stands proud over Broad Run, VA - USA. Some say that on August 28, 1862, Robert E. Lee and James Longstreet stood under this tree while overlooking the battle taking place in Thoroughfare Gap.

    Ooops, that's true, I think we had better revise the wording - it was more accurate when originally written because the Mini Comps were all in one of the C&C forums.

    Now they have their own place, I think it would be wise if we "rewrote the rulebook" and took that out - for all the reasons stated.

    My apologies Chris; I didn't read the rules myself

    To see the overall site structure, use the big "Forum" button top left, or the word Forum in crumbtrail just below it.

    But here are some direct links;
    Nature & Architecture and People & Pets

    Cheers,
