    Blogging With A6400

Some days, I think Sony has cutting edge technology and other times is seems like they are just muddling along.

Take the recently issued A6400 for example. This small and cheap camera has one of the best auto focus systems and comes in at $900 (USD).

They are calling this Sony's BLOGGING CAMERA - yet lacks IBIS which is really quite important for some Yahoo who wants to video him/herself walking and talking with the camera at the end of their arm. It would be important to a guy like me who is using a lot of glass that doesn't have OSS, such as my Sigma primes, my Samyang 12mm f/2.0, and my Sony 85mm f/1.8. Also included in that group are my vintage lenses.

I can possibly (actually not really) understand the lack of IBIS because Sony wants to compete ar the Canon price point for their M-50 mirrorless offering and which is considerably less expensive than the A6400. The M-50 doesn't have IBIS and I strongly suspect that he extra price of an IBIS capable A6400 might very well be the difference between a newbie buying the camera and not buying it After all for someone's first camera, a fifty or one hundred dollar difference might be a decision maker...

On te other hand where Sony fell on their face and caused a lot of negative comments among bloggers is using the A5100 flip up screen on this camera. The microphone blocks the screen making it impossible to use for blogging. This problem which has reached epic proportions on the Internet could have been solved by Sony giving or selling an accessory like this with the A6400. Or even mentioning it tn their adverts...

BTW: I certainly can't let Canon off the hook. Using an APSC focusing array in the Canon 6D2 was dumb and releasing a sensor with less exposure latitude tat the previous model of that camera was pure idiocy.
