Open photo in non-Photoshop editor from within Elements Organizer?

I’d be grateful for help with what is probably a fairly simply computer operating problem. I have Photoshop Elements (on Windows 10). The Organizer preferences dialog seems to allow one to name two editors in the drop-down menu, one of which is Elements (so that right clicking on a photo’s thumbnail allows the selection of the editor). I am trying to add Affinity Photo alongside the default Elements. Whilst the “browse” function allows me to locate Affinity in the program list, I don’t seem to be able to get much further. I select Affinity, but clicking on “open” just opens the lists of constituent files in Affinity. I seem to recall having this problem in a different context in the past. I just don’t know how to simply add the program to the list.

When you browse to the location of the Affinity folder, there should be a file within that folder with a “EXE” file extension i.e. “Affinity.exe” file. You should select that file to link Affinity as an external editor from PSE.

Thanks Peter. I think I've done that now: the box says C\Program Files etc and ends \Photo.exe, but it doesn't produce anything other than the option to use Elements when I get the right click drop down menu (despite re-starting Elements.

You might get a better response if you post this on the Affinity Forums .

Julian, it seems that other people have had the issue that you’ve got. Have a look at the thread (Linked Below) on an Affinity user group. It seems that the issue may be attributable to how Affinity is purchased e.g. via a Microsoft Store.

PS. John must have been typing at the same time as I was Open photo in non-Photoshop editor from within Elements Organizer?

Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t think that the problem is related to this Microsoft Store issue because I actually downloaded direct from Serif and my bank statement says Serif Nottingham to confirm this.
Browsing for the program does fill in the file path. I can’t remember it exactly, but it definitely contains the words Affinity Photo and Photo.exe. It seems more that PSE Organizer just won’t act on the changes made.
