    Greetings from Helsinki

Found my way here looking for some beginning photography resources for my wife who has a photography class this semester. I have shot mostly portraits but I've only been in the field seriously for a few years. I'm currently exploring the vast subject of visual literacy and trying to translate some of what I'm learning into photographic images.

I'm over 51 years old and feeling rather like a kid in a candy factory with all of the resources I have available. I've met some wonderful folks on this journey so far and hope to continue well into the future.

I don't really have a 'style' yet and instead am focusing on exploring what is needed (stylistically) for each shoot. I have recently done a promotional shoot for an airbnb rental and had a wonderful time capturing the place's beauty. I'm hoping to do some more stuff along those lines soon. I run a photography group here in Helsinki and we meet every Sunday.

My favourite lenses are a Zeiss 21mm 2.8 Milvus for whatever I can find to accommodate it and my 105 1.4 Nikon for portraits.

Anyway, nice to see what appears to be a good bunch of people!

Welcome to the forum, what is the size of your group and do they do field trips?

Thank you. Our group usually pulls between six and fifteen members, depending on weather and other factors. We go out and about on shoots in the South Finland area most of the time however we also have studio sessions and class-like sessions. We're pretty casual most of the time. Our next session this Sunday we are focusing on composing with lines and we'll have attendees of all levels joining us.

    Hi Kelly...

Welcome to the forum... We are an international group of friends gathered to stimulate our mutual love of photography...

We have photographers from all venues here. I am pretty eclectic in my photography but primarily work with portraits of dogs and humans.

I work with Canon and Sony gear and really love using old lenses in my photography...

Post some of your shots and perhaps encourage some of your club members to join our group.

Besides the enjoyment I get from the comradeship of this group, our folks are a wonderful resource and usually an answer to any question is found and posted within hours of the question being submitted.
