    I think you missed something.
    Placing a keyword in an image is only one thing of the work, and the simplest part. The more difficult part is what words you'll use. How you can get an overview of the words that where used, not only your collection but also of others. How to add a structure that not only works today but also tomorrow. That's part of that article too.

    Looking at XnView today, it's search function is certainly more comprehensive and flexible than Picasa's.
