I will be starting my Project 52 Q2 thread here. April will be Solar photography, May should be droplet macro, June is TBD and I'm taking suggestions.

April Week 2
This past weekend I had some time at home and I decided to try to image the Sun. I was told there was a very prominent sunspot in view in the bottom right hand region of the sun. I new I had to check it out.
I still need to work on my post-processing skills for solar imaging, but the capture was pretty fun. I need to learn how to edit out the flare/halo around the sun. Also, trying to achieve focus on something so bright is VERY difficult, I remembered thatI did not use focus zoom in live view mode. Gosh remember the basics kiddo.
That dark spot should be Sunspot 2738, it is not dust on the sensor.

Nice efforts.
I liked the first one
Intriguing pictures. I agree with Nandakumar about the first one although the cropped images are good too. But I like the sun with the reddish glow surrounding it.
April Week #1 has been uploaded in its proper location. Sorry for the delay.
April Week 3 to come
We went on a big trip and Im still working on the photos.

I went back out to hunt sun spots, they have already left our view.
Both Images followed the same workflow:
Capture:
iso100, 30sec video at 80 frames per sec (2400 frames)
Processing:
Raw file is MP4
PIPP - to center image, crop image size, sort top 35% frames, convert ffrom MP4 to AVI
AutoStackert - sort best 50 frames, stack, convert from AVI to TIF
Lightroom - adjust clarity, dehaze, and contrast slider, remove chromatic abberation, convert TIF to JPG
f8, iso100
f22, iso100

I liked the quasi-silhouette images of the first week; i think images need minor degrees of rotation to keep them levelled. A crop of tree alone from the first image would work well, i feel
Alright gang I finally got around to process half of my photos from my trip to Mammoth California. Please take a look and let me know what you think I can improve on. These are landscape photos for the most part, these are not what I normally capture. I tried to keep the crop to the rule of thirds and also jkeep the crop to the intresting parts, no excess sky or foregrounds.

Here are the photos from the second half of the mammoth trip. Take a look and enjoy. Let me know what you think.

This is a nice series of images.
I might have been tempted to trade some foreground for some more sky in #1 as the sky is potentialy more interesting.
The figure in #2 lends scale and balance.
The horizon in #3 is somewhat disconcerting
In #4 I find whatever is overhanging the left hand column and contrasting against the distant snow distracting.
I feel a slight clockwise rotation of #5 might be called for.
In #6 the creamy water contrasts nicely with the colourful rocks and foliage.
Nice series.
Hi Daniel - The only small suggestion I have if I was lucky enough to be in the same situation, is in regard to the photo in part 2 - image #3. I probably would have my subject facing to the left looking out over the water. And I probably would have tried to get the background a bit more level.
Overall though I really like the images and can see them in a scrapbook of memories!
Sandy, you are totally right. Unfortunately, the lady subject is my wife and I have to toe a very fine line when photographing her. She is getting more and more comfortable in from of the camera but she doesn't like me telling her what to do. So right now I am just happy enough that she is willing to model for me. I absolutely HATE being in photos, I don't know why but I don't like it.
99% of my photography is a documentary of our adventures. the remaining 1% is my astrophotography. I LOVE photographing the cosmos, I'm not very good at it, it has more to do with technique than it does with equipment.
I was able to have some time to break out the Astrophotography gear this past week. Below are a few images I was able to capture over the last week. Enjoy.
