Excellent image John. The dancer and background work together quite nicely and that adds to the overall impact.
What colours are in the original image that made you decide to go B&W here?
A really nice image indeed.
Lovely image John... Everything comes together well... I'd love to see the original color image...
I like this image a lot. I do love black and white. Would sepia work or very subdued colours? I like it the way it is.
Cheers Ole
John, very nice portrait.

I do like this image the mix of the aged background and floor materials coupled with the more youthful dancer help to highlight the structures of both of these elements. Your processing works very well, excellent work John.

Very nice image, and excellent light.
Thanks for posting the colour version. With portraits and people I often have a slight preference to B&W images.
In my opinion, it is a tiny bit stronger approach than the B&W in this instance, simply because of the superior separation of the dancer from the background. The tonal range of the dancer and background a bit too close in the B&W and the colour pops the dancer off the background just a bit more.
Regardless, both are extremely effective and are by far the strongest people shots I've seen you do yet. Well done!
P.S. If you wish to stick with monochrome, you can try to create tonal separation through dodging and burning.

Thanks for posting the color version... Both are spectacular!
a really excellent image. Great work.
I tend to agree with Manfred about color vs. B&W, and for the same reason, but both are powerful images.
