NIK Collection 2018 by DXO - any improvement?

I have been using NIK since I purchased it from Google (at that time, I think the price was $250 USD). I really like this program as a plug-in for Photoshop CC. The NIK suits the way I like to work. NIK became free and then Google dumped it.

DXO is reissuing the NIK software, calling it NIK Collection 2018 by DXO. Does anyone know if there is any improvement in this NIK Collection 2018 over the original NIK Google issued software that I am presently using.

If there is an improvement, I don't mind purchasing it again but, if it is the same software that I am presently working with, I would prefer to save my money...

Basically bug fixes and improved compatibility with Adobe CC 2019 products. No new (additional) functionality in either of the two releases I have installled.

I wonder what kind of "improved compatibility with Adobe CC 2019"? I don't seem to have any problems in the capability department...

I had heard of quite a number of reports of issues by both PC and Mac users. Consider yourself lucky so far.

I hadn't heard that. What sort of issues are being seen? I haven't had any problem.

I don’t use Nik very often, but I haven’t yet had compatibility problems with the Google version.

The Google version is still working fine on my Win10 desktop PC. The only problem was when I tried to use it away from home as a plug-in on my old Win7 HP Netbook. I expect it was the limited system that couldn't cope with all that software! However, I found out from the web that the Nik modules can run as stand-alone programs, and they now work OK that way (although rather slowly!) on the Netbook.

I have a slight hunch (totally undocumented) that the "issues" were a ploy to get people to purchase the DXO version (which I think should have been included when folks bought DXO Photolab) after either paying for the Google version originally or getting it free later on.

I really think that if they want to sell this product they should have done some work and added some bells and whistles to the Google Version of NIK. Very much like Sony has added the firmware update to the A7iii and A9 which caused sales to shoot through the roof with correspondingly lowered sales for Nikon and Canon mirrorless full frame cameras...

I am going to use my original Google version until it either crashes or when (and if) DXO makes some constructive additions to the program...

A firmware update will increase functionality of a camera. It won't significantly change the camera's capabilities as those are generally hardware related. The people buying those cameras would likely have bought them regardless of tweaks and bug fixes that enhanced overall functionality.

I know a pro travel photographer who was approached by Sony and was given an A7iii with four lenses to test for a month with a hope that she would switch to Sony. She shot a Canon 5D Mk iv. She returned everything after a month, She told me it was the best Sony she had ever tested but it was still not as good as her Canon gear; while focus speed and battery life were pretty well up to par with he Canon, she felt that overall image quality, viewfinder, ergonomics and most importantly, robustness were still not there.
