Tulip Festival
It's the 66th annual tulip festival in Ottawa this week, so I headed down to Dow's Lake to look at the roughly 250,000 tulips planted there. It has been a cool spring so far and many of the tulips are not in bloom yet.
I tried for a different approach in photographing them this year. I went with a very long focal length (300mm) and photographed them in a way that would cause a lot of visual compression. I post-processed the shot in a way that would pull the viewer's attention to some of the edges of the flowers, rather than the smooth portrayal we see in a lot of the shots at this event.
