    Maeve

I finally got around to looking at some of my shots from last weekend's shoot.

Hot pink background was done using a single gelled light that was aimed at white seamless background paper. One key light (camera left) and one fill light were used as well. I used a 2:1 lighting ratio; one that I tend to prefer when shooting women. If you look at the catch lights in the eyes you can see the rectangular softboxes that I used and how the left one was brighter than the right one. I shot from the side with less light, i.e. "short light".

Because the model asked for it to be done that way.

I am loving the lighting again on this Manfred, but got to say the background is not doing it for me.

It was a themed shoot with seven different models. Some wanted blue, others green, pink, yellow and purple. They are planning to use these to advertise an upcoming show. I generally prefer neutral or understated backgrounds.
