It's an interesting image and the dog is well posed, but I'm not 100% sold on your lighting. I like the fact that you have controlled the background and have not clipped it to pure black.
While I like the direction you are going, the hot spot on the head overpowers the texture of the fur there and that loss of detail does not work all that well for me.

Beautiful portrait! Only thing to say is I'd like to see more eye detail.. it feels lost in the lighting.
