Sorry Antonio - this one is not working particularly well for me. The two out of focus men in the foreground are quite distracting and my eyes go there, rather than to your subject.
Thank you Manfred ! I do appreciate your comments.
The guy was in the middle of the people... I was attracted by the light.
I "kind of agree" with you ! I mean almost agree with you. No. I agree with you !
I have to be careful as you are quite demanding ! But you are right to be !
Constructive critique is the way to progress.
Thank you.
Antonio - I generally get together once a month with a dozen or so very experienced photographers and we critique each other's work. To suggest we are very brutally honest would be a bit of an understatement, but on the other hand, the quality of the work each of us is doing has improved significantly over the past couple of years.
The important thing to remember, when giving and receiving these comments, is that these comments are only about the work, never about the person. As long as the comments are very objective and specific the process works well. Comments like "I like it" or "I don't like it" are not tolerated unless the person making the comment can specifically tell the photographer why he or she says that.
This photo does not work for me, but it is a very didactic example of depth of field. The men ahead and after the subject are very close to the blonde man, but out of focus, while he is perfectly focused. You and the autofocus of your camera worked very well for this purpose.
I like the image because it is different. The blond person is clearly differentiated by selective dodging and hair.
Cheers Ole
Very well. The eyes start with the two blured front men and then move to the sharp subject. It's ok, it's dynamic. I like that.
Robert, it gave me some work to get this result. I worked only in LR
Thank you for commenting !
