Hold Very Tight Please........
I'm not alone it seems from what I have been reading, but since just before Christmas ill health, both personal and in the family has meant that actually getting out with a camera has been difficult. I have been posting elsewhere but mainly work that first saw the light of day here. However, things are on the turn and last week we managed a break in Durham which allowed me to satisfy a long held wish to visit the outdoor museum at Beamish. For those that don't know it, the museum is set in a valley and has it's own transport system (Trains, Trams(Streetcars) and buses), a town, a farm, a colliery, a fairground and some manor houses all in a Edwardian or Victorian setting. A great day out and needless to say, provided photographic opportunities by the score which I'm going to bore you with for a while. In a long period of photographic activity, I have never managed to get involved in studio portraiture. However I do enjoy making environmental portraits. The bus conductor below was very happy to be captured after I spotted him appearing out from behind his bus (1st image).

Nice series John, I do enjoy a day at Beamish. I’ve always found the volunteer staff to be willing to pose for me.
Your portraits are very good, well done. Did you try the fish and chips from the coal fired range?

The shots of the village and bus give your two portraits context. I think that is something photographers forget about too often.
Film makers often using an "establishing shot" to set the scene. That technique lends itself to photography quite nicely, as you have shown here.

Thanks all for the comments. We spent five hours exploring the place and could have spent more had it not been closing time.
