    Orlu waterfall

In the Orlu valley about an hours drive away in the direction of the Pyrenees. Brilliant sunshine and dark shadow giving a ridiculous dynamic range, also, drenching spray (and complaining wife). The only decent shot of about 10 that I took. Tried an ND filter (10 stop) that turned the waterfall into fog so no good, tried a shot from a different perspective and the lens got soaked by the time I had focused. This is a blend of about 3 or four exposures in Photoshop.

    and a monochrome version

Thanks Nandakumar. I'm quite happy with both at the moment but I'll probably change the processing ... as usual

I find that the colour version has a lot more potential than the B&W, but it will take more work in dodging and burning (as well as playing with the colour of the water) than the B&W version. The mixed light and harsh lighting suggest opening up the details a bit would be worth considering.

The B&W version would need many of the same steps except for the colour correction.

Very nice results, Paul, I like both. Will look forward to viewing any changes also.

I hope looking at waterfalls helped you feel cooler

I like both images and your shutter speed provides the right balance between freezing and blurring for my taste.

I would have shied away from having a thick tree trunk divide the first image, but I actually think it works okay.

Colour for me as well. I like mono images but the colour adds something here and Manfred's suggestions are worth a try.

    Re: Orlu waterfall

I agree with David (Rufus) on the first image; the tree is cutting the image in two and the material on the left hand side is not adding anything to the image. In fact it detracts.

On the second image, my comments on the first postings still apply. The two different tones to the water do not work well. The cyan / green undertones of the lower falls don't work at all for me. The water needs to have a consistent tone throughout.

The luscious green is very attractive; yes but th cyan blue is a bit out of palette.
