    Dragon fly, no macro

Took this earlier today, with the Nikkor 300mm PF, no TC. I suppose these bugs may be bigger in Texas () but even so ...

    Dragon fly, no macro

It came into view when I was waiting patiently for a humming bird to turn up - did get some shots but need some more practice before posting any of those.

Very impressive! I tried to catch a dragonfly this weekend, but they are not plentiful, as the lack of rain has meant fewer mosquitoes than usual. I would love to, but can't at this point, imagine catching a hummingbird...

The one advantage of a long lens over macro is that even though the DoF is necessarily limited, You get most of the insect in focus. Nice shot. Been looking through my Boy's Own book of Dragonflies and Damselflies to try and ID it but I can't see it. Found a match by Googling it but annoyingly, the art blog in which it appears does not id it as such.
