    Chital (spotted deer) C&C

Taken on recent trip. I love the way the light plays on the velvet covered antlers, but I'd appreciated any suggestions or examples of how you would edit.

    Thanks, DaveChital (spotted deer) C&C

Dave, perhaps darken the background... with a mask and so on.

The antler is cut in the original shot ?

    That is also my thoughts.

Particularly, tone down the highlights on the right side tree. Also there seems to be a stray stem in the bottom left corner.

Dave, I forgot: be patient while masking the animal and specially, the antlers !

I would try to get a bit of separation between the two deer specifically the head.

Burn down and desaturate the background and dodge the subjects...

I wished the eye of the chital behind also were within the frame...

Thanks for the ideas, and especially Manfred for illustrating how the picture could be improved by masking. I don't know how I missed the top of the antlers, usually I tend to zoom out a bit and rely on crop - it's difficult to be too precise when shooting from a shared jeep.
