    Graffiti at night

Today at night, a couple of artists was painting outside on the street using a projector as help for their work.
They were drawing / painting a well known poet from Setúbal.
I took the picture of the girl but I think it is not good as she was in a very difficult area of the work and partly hidden by him during the time I have been there.

    EDIT
I decided to post this one of the girl. Actually, they were working together on the same project.

    Antonio,

Did you manually focus on the first shot, I would think the patterns would fool most AF systems? Nice efforts and the second helps add clarity to the first image.

    Re: Graffiti at night

It reminds me of artists of the past using a camera obscura to sketch out their projects, but with a modern twist.

I find your first image quite effective as you have captured a blend of both the artist at work as well as being the platform of a projected art image too. I've done projected image photography in the studio before, but applying it outside looks like something worth trying. The power source for the projector could be a bit challenging...

Thank you John and Manfred for your comments.
As I wrote in the beginning, I was not going to post the second picture as it is not that good...
The camera has focused automatically on the person in both instances.

I have customised a button so that pressing it, I can rotate the barrel on the lens and fine tune the focus point. I have not been doing it frequently and I still struggle with the sense of the rotation.
But I will come to it if I don't change my mind and make it to operate automatically and manual at the same time.
    Have a nice weekend !

    Agree.
The second one is out of focus in the background... I should have rejected it.

Love that first image Antonio, it tells a great story, and the composition itself is very effective. I do prefer it over your second image, which is less interesting.

    Thank you Sharon !
You are right to prefer the first image, so do I.
The second one is more a "complement" to contextualize the text.

Today, I went into the location and shot the final work.

Perhaps in this photo is lacking a sense of scale...

Interesting work on shooting the finished mural at night. If you have a chance to photograph it in daylight, that would be an interesting addition to this thread.

Manfred, I made this photo just for you, a few hours ago.
The shop is where the bored young man is waiting.

Another aha moment. The work is obviously on the shop's roll down shutter, so it is only visible at times where the shop is closed. I guess I should have asked for a picture that was not taken at night, but when the shop was closed.

I like both of these image although I do really like the first one best.

    Regarding image #2, I would:

    a. Crop it a bit from image left
    b. Lower the brightness of her shirt towards image left where the sun hits it and brighten the image right portion of the shirt
    c. Brighten her face just a little

    What do you think?

    Re: Graffiti at night

Richard, I don't think the photo worth that effort.

Anyway, thank you for the idea. If only the photo was better I would do according to your suggestion, but as the poor thing is so... poor...

    Cheers !

Manfred, yesterday I have been to the shop and there was no lights on. So, I couldn't take the shot.
Perhaps another day I will do it...

    Thanks for the update, Antonio.

Don't worry about it if you can't get the shot.
