Nice series, agree about the finger, however even images with slight imperfections is useful to practice editing techniques.

I looked at the three shots of this pose and they all have the finger cut off (darn it!) so, I tried working around it.

Richard - as you have presented the three images together, I assume that they are to be considered as a set. What bothers me are the significant changes in skin tone in all of the images. The middle one looks to be closest to “natural “.

I have had the devil's own time on the skin tones of these images. Actually the first image that I posted (with the cut off finger) seems to be the most accurate as I remember.

I neglected to bring my WhiBal card on this shoot.

They are not intended to be any set of images....

It looks like you're shooting on neutral coloured seamless paper (white and gray). They give a pretty decent white balance reading if you use them to sample. Seamless paper I've used doesn't seem to have OBAs in it, so it tends to be pretty good. If it looks a bit cool to you , just add a bit of yellow in post and keep it consistent in all three images.

That being said, in a studio setting, I usually set my WB to flash or daylight setting in the raw convertor (or use 5500K or 5600K) and again that gets me very consistent white balance results.


These are all WB'd off the seamless with the PS ACR filter.
