Are there photographic courses / weekends / retreats available?

Does anyone know of any photography (Basic) courses / Weekends that are available either in Scotland or in the North of England?

I am keen to go on a "retreat" to get off on the right foot, so to speak.

I'm certain there'll be lots of them. Depends on what it is you want to do.

A quick search on 'photography courses uk' throws up pages of results. Also, if you buy any photography magazine in a High Street shop, I think you'll find people advertising courses. I subscribe to 'Black & White Photography' and there is always at least a page of ads of various courses.

I'll also PM you because I know that a person who has recently joined the site did/does offer courses based in one of the more spectacular areas of Scotland.

Having not graced the land of my ancestors since 1964, I cannot attest to anything on that side of the world. However, if any of you stateside folk ever feel that urge to attend a workshop, might I give great testimony to the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, in, of course, Santa Fe, NM. They run them year-round and having attended two, I give them two thumbs-up. Great facilities, great instructors though were I you, I'd rent a casita somewhere close to the school as the accomodations are spartan to say the best (a sparsely refurbished monestary). If Santa Fe is too far aaway as would be in Katy's case, there are the Maine Photographic Workshops as well, and from what I've heard, they are tops.
