Eep! Thanks, Mike, that meant a lot coming from you. Okay, with all of these kind words, if this is dying, I've gone to the right place!

Yes! She's wonderful and she LOVES Scotsmen; so, she'll fit right in! (er, not making that up!)

ALrighty, we've agreed that it is indeed OUR scone recipe, of which someday I hope you all get to try. Otherwise we'll be fueding over ownership for the rest of our lives.

All little competition never hurt anyone right?

There are many possible replies to that, but I fear that any one of them would get me banned under the new code of conduct. Hey, I could ban myself. Bet no one has done that before.

I'm finally starting to trust my instincts and thoughts and abilities.
Believe it or not, I remember turning that corner, back in the mid-50s. It is a major step in development from a picture-snapper to becoming a photographer.

I truely enjoyed your coming in and joining us in the torture pit. It is interesting to me to watch the development of new photographers and watching the fire take hold. Thank you.

Or, better still, Colin could fly his Lear Jet and just stop off across Europe en route.

Rob - could you get the beer? (Mike (Clactonian) - You're on the wine)

Steve (Wirefox)- could you ask Beckie if she could do the pics? We'll need a decent photographer.

Katy - You're on the scones.

Colin - Could you take all the lighting gear, etc?
...and Colin, can you pick up the Fashionista on the way?....then everyone can have a model to practice on at the convention

I will of course be molly the martyr and give up my spot....No, don't be trying to persuade me otherwise.....the blissful peace and tranquility that will result here will be worth it...you can of course fedex some scones and a nice bottle of shiraz to keep me company....you see, the things we will do for our children

Thanks, Pops, very much for your reply. It is so nice when others understand! I understand what you mean by the "torture pit". It feels a lot like having ones picture taken. eek! When all this dies down, I can stop blushing and go back to being comfortably shy, again.

Colin! Just throw Kay in the back and kidnap her. Having three boys, I know just how to keep her and Fashionista separated. After all, we MUST have our cake and eat it too! Colin? Colin........? Has anyone seen Colin? I miss him!

I wanted to make a comment and wasn't sure where to stick it. I would have put this in a response to an "In Conversation With Carregwen" interview but that is still, apparently, in the works. (Rob, if you haven't found anyone, I'm sure Elise would be wondrously good at editing yours! ) Anyway, not only am I still alive after doing this (which I'm rather glad about), but I've found that having this conversation has opened up communications and friendliness from so many more members, here at CiC. Also, when I see one of you who have done this, commenting in another thread, it's extremely pleasant to know a bit more, who's talking and where you're coming from.

Thank you, Rob, for the more than a little bit of time that you've put into this! It's genuinely helping to build the community here in a brilliantly tangible way.

Just noticed this interview when reading up on the latest issues of this series. A very enjoyable read and I laughed out loud when I got to the part of the 'happy trails' award. I try to imagine how that must have looked.

Well,....I didn't exactly sing Aida all the way up and all the way down.... just camp songs and whatever. What's funny is how I freak people out in the supermarket whistling or singing (I mean, just softly....) but, I ask, why not? Thanks, Peter!

    Also, thank you, Antonio!

Gosh! It's been a day and an age since I did this!

OH, Steve,......we came up with the most INCREDIBLY delicious dessert!! We call it the Devonshire Sunday Split. It's half of a warm scone with vanilla ice cream on top, drizzled with warm, melted strawberry jam, sprinkled with blueberries and a dallop of freshly whipped VT cream. It's red, white and blue (and, we wanted to put a little American flag and a little British flag in the top but haven't gotten around to it, yet) but, even more than this....it's beyond delicious and is comfort food taken to a new level!

    Thanks for your encouragement!

Cracking interview Katy. I really enjoyed it!

PS. This is simply hilarious... ...I love the way you tell a story!

Everyone knows it!" I mildly said, "well, I can't wait to see how mine measures up." When I came back out, I asked how it was and her husband enthusiastically with glowing and excited face, looked up and said, "Oh! this is the best scone I've ever had!" I thought the story was going to turn into a gruesome murder but, apparently, the wife waited for a subtler, more mysterious moment to do her husband in.

    Oh, my...! Thank you!

I only tell it the way it is.

If any of you haven't done this, yet.... I felt so shy and embarrassed and... I don't know - not demure. (Uhhh, apparently, I've been cured of THAT!) But, it turned out to be a great thing - it's so pleasant all around - for everyone and not that big of a deal, after all. Don't be shy - really! I'd encourage 'you' (anyone) to volunteer! You can be a relative newcomer or absolutely ensconced, here - it doesn't matter. (Plus, you'll make Donald's day if you volunteer!)

edit: Oh, heeheeheee! I'm just remembering the look the wife gave her husband - you know, "if looks could kill". I'm surprised he didn't drop dead on the spot. I can't remember how we all got out of it - I think he quickly back paddled. I'm going to be chuckling all day, now, remembering.
