Thank you for your compliments. I am also a fan of Monet and the other impressionists. This image was done with a Sony APSC camera and a legacy 50mm f/1.8 Oreston lens.

This one was done with a Russian Helios 55mm f/1.8 lens on the Sony A6500. Not at all the same effect, but I kind of like it also

Some of these old lenses are fun with which to shoot. Many of them have their own special renditions. I would not use many of them for a "straight" photograph, preferring to use a modern lens unless I am looking for that "special" type of rendition.

One lens however, seems like it can stand up straight and compete pretty well with the more modern varieties and that is the 55mm f/1.4 lens manufactured by Tomioka and sold under several labels. The 55mm f.1.4 Tomioka lens that I own is branded as a Sears Auto.

The problem with using legacy glass is that I sometimes "want" to play with specialized renditions but, "need" a image rendered in a more traditional style. An example is when I am shooting a model. This is when a two camera setup is valuable to me. My pair of Sony APSC format cameras are light enough to carry one camera with a modern lens and the second camera with legacy glass. That way I have the advantage of creative rendering but, don't miss out on a more standard rendering.

Of course, my primary use of a two camera setup is to enable e to be versatile in using two different focal length prime lenses without having to switch lenses during a shoot. One of my favorite setups is a Sony 85mm f/1.8 combined with a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens for model shoots. That way I get an equivalent 127.5mm and an equivalent 45mm focal length... A 50mm f/1.8 plus the 30mm f/1.4 is also good for tighter situations.

I even have a pair of Flashpoint triggers so I can shoot with two bodies when I am using mine or another person's Godox flash equipment.
