I really like the shallow depth of field. Must be a very fast lens?

It's a nice capture of the blossom, but I'm afraid the image as a whole doesn't work for me. There is too much distracting detail, the placement of the flower is too centered top to bottom (which also leaves distracting detail at the top), and the bokeh at the bottom left is pretty bad. As a start, you could just crop, blur some of the jarring bokeh, and darken some of the edges. That still would leave some distracting lavender at the bottom that would need to be dealt with. E.g.,

+1 to Dan's comments. There are simply too many distracting elements in this image, especially near the edges of the frame, for this image to work. Shallow DoF is not a "cure-all" for an overly busy composition.

    Hi Ole,

Not considered a fast lens, I shot this with the 70-300mm, 4.5-5.6 AFS-IF ED, thanks for commenting.
