Question Only if you use Canon WiFi Option.

Hi, I use two options (1) Pad for indoors (2) Phone outdoors. Both are Android systems and I cannot get them to both work from the same security log on number generated when setting up the Camera WiFi, is this normal as my home internet just uses the one password to connect multiple computers via WiFi and I assumed that WiFi is the same on any system? Thankyou. Russ.

This is common (and expected) behaviour for any camera WiFi connection to a phone, table or computer. This is exactly the same as my Panasonic camera and CamRanger. It is NOT unique to your Canon camera.

Why do you only want to hear from people that use Canon WiFi?

In general, a WiFi card can only connect to one device at a time. When you connect your camera to your phone you are essentially connecting to an independent two device network (one WiFi card in each of your devices), so only one passcode at a time will work. If your camera came with two built-in WiFi cards (which it doesn't) you could do what you want.

If you are running either your phone or tablet through your home network, these devices will have to disconnect from your home network before they can communicate with your camera.

The reason you can connect with more than one device on your home network (using the same password) is that you are running it through a router, which has been designed to allow for multiple device connectivity.

Hi, Why do you only want to hear from people that use Canon WiFi? Because that is the system I use and thought people that use Canon would have a better idea on Canon equipment.
The home router option now makes sense thankyou.

First of all by asking the question that way eliminates a lot of knowledgeable users especially when the issue is not camera or brand specific. In this case it is more of a generic WiFi issue than a camera / brand issue.

Just as a comment, I haven not had any luck connecting either my Panasonic or CamRanger to my home router.

If you tell me the specific model of your camera I might be able to help.

Home internet is a bit different from WiFi connection cameras usually use. For cameras they generally use a subset of WiFi technology called ad-hoc mode which enables direct connection from devices such as smartphones.

Thankyou but I fear that what I want is not possible. I use a Canon 70D along side QDSLR Dashboard rather than the canon option for software, I have QDSLR on both my tablet and phone but it does seem that the code generated by the WiFi option within the 70D is only good to connect one or the other, I have now created two connection options in the camera with differant log in codes and it seems to be working thus far. Thankyou, Russ.
