Two critters in the garden this morning
I haven't been doing much in the way of bugs for a few years. I think I am either getting too slow or too easily frustrated. However, this morning, the temperature was low, which helps a lot--some bugs move slowly, and some just sit there waiting to warm up. So, I went out and captured a few.
The bumblebee was perched on a flower that was entirely white, so I can't get rid of the distracting white on the top edge.
Given that equipment for macro is often discussed here, these were taken with:
Canon 7D first generation
100mm macro lens
36 mm extension tube
430 EX II flash, held by a bracket right above the front end of the lens, highly diffused.
1/125
f/13 (nominal)
Focus obtained by moving camera (on a monopod)
C&C welcome, as always.

Both good. Nice field of focus on that second shot.
