    Yellowstone National Park

I just returned from a road trip. Thursday I left for Big Timber, Montana which is a three hour drive. Distances in the west are measured by time, not miles.

I did see this at a rest stop.

    Yellowstone National Park

I fished all day and caught some nice Brown Trout. I did get a few photos. I like this one the best.

The following day it was off to Cameron, Montana to fish the upper Madison River. The fish are pretty big there. But first a detour in Bozeman to visit my daughter and granddaughter. I fished all day Friday in beautiful weather. I don't take a camera on the stream with me because I carry 2 forms of protection from large dangerous animals. I did manage a photo of this guy.

The following day I fished for two hours in the morning in rainy, cold weather . No luck. So I took off for Yellowstone National Park. These are some of the shots from there.

The next day I left in a snowstorm.

You are so lucky to live next door ! to Yellowstone.

By far and away the best holiday I ever had for so many reasons.

Peter, you are quite right. YNP is a user friendly park which makes it very popular. Good for the local economy. Although most of YNP is located in Wyoming, most access it through Montana.

    Definitely some very nice shots.

Yellowstone (as well as the other well known National Parks) have always been on my "to do" list, yet somehow my travels to the USA have been quite limited.

The USA / Canada border is only about a 45 minute drive away (Northeast New York State), but I rarely get down that way, much less further afield. But to be honest, I haven't done a lot of exploring in Canada either lately; somehow the rest of the world seems to be so much more interesting to visit right now. That's not to say enjoy visiting the USA; a trip down to Boston and a drive along the south shore of Lake Superior were just great (and wonderful from a photographic standpoint too).

Maybe I need to look at something along those lines in the spring..

On the other hand, our oldest daughter, her husband and our grandson lives in Hong Kong, so I expect a visit to Asia is more likely in the books...

Manfred, another place worth checking out is the north shore of Lake Superior. There are a lot of cool little towns in Minnesota. I've only gone as far as Nipigon Bay but the Canadian side looks pretty nice too.
