Azrael - Print Ready

I'm currently taking an advanced printing course. One of the assignments that I have is to create four exhibition quality prints of a series of images that have a common theme.

I've decided to print a series from the War on Gotham 2019 cosplay series I shot back in the summer. I liked three of the images that I had prepared and have printed them, but was not happy with any of the shots for the fourth print so I went back to the images from the shoot and found one that I felt would complement the other three.

I'm using Epson Metallic Photo Paper Luster as it gives the images an interesting, edgy look.

I thought I would show the final image plus the SOOC image I started with. As with all my images, 95% of the work is dodging and burning.

Thing that I notice the most is the way you have burned the white wall top left so that the head stands out more.

Thanks Peter - the main reason for the heavy burning is to set the mood of the shot.

The entire series was shot in an old and decaying industrial site, so light and bright were farthest from my mind when I shot these images. Reality was that given the confined shooting spaces, I was not getting the light drop off from my studio flash that I would have liked, so creating it in post was always my plan.

Most of the dodging and burning is much more subtle. If you open the image in Lightbox and toggle back and forth between the two shots, those aspects of the retouch come out even more strongly.
