Faces of Long-Term Care Homes - Peggy

I am a Long-Term Care (LTC) ombudsman for my state of WA and I'm also working on a Master's in Gerentology. My focus is LTC and my passion is culture change to push communities to adapt better person-centered practices. I am working on certification in the Eden Alternatives Method. My final project for my current semester is Improving aging and aging outcomes in LTC communities.
Here in the US, Assisted Living, Skilled, and Nursing homes can and should be doing so much better.

As part of my project, I am taking photos of those involved in these communities, from residents to staff. This is an older photograph and needs to be way better and will be retaken soon with my fuji. Poor lighting here and blown hair highlights.
    It's entitled Peggy.

Oh, and she's my mom, and she is in a memory care home here on Whidbey Island. I moved her out here almost a year ago from Indiana. She is 87 and I'd say in the moderate dementia stage.
If okay, I'd love to post some of the photographs here for comment.

Nice effort, a little tight on the crop at top, no issues with the sides except a bit of darkness, did you add the vignette?

All I can say is good luck on your studies and in your efforts to improve long-term care. Both of my in-laws and my mother were in long term care facilities for a number of years and it was tough to visit there, especially the dementia floor that my mother was on.

I think you captured your mother very well and with the practice you've had, your next shot should be even better.

Thank you for the comments. John, thanks for the critique. Yes, there is a vignette around to frame the photo and deal a bit with the top distraction.
Manfred, I am sorry you went through the dementia journey with your mother.
Thanks for the comments on the photo, it certainly is not a professional level portrait, but I am working on improving the portraits I do take.
