Dan, in Powerdesk Pro is it the sync manager that you use?

For the past few years my backup has consisted of occasional manual backup of key folders, etc. to an external eSata drive, and also Carbonite. Since I'm in the process of getting a new computer I probably should give thought to the other inhouse backup options.

Mine is plugged into my home ethernet LAN which allows my better half to back up her iMac as well (using Apple's Time Machine) regardless of whether my PC is turned on. We each have seperate shares on the Drobo (akin to hard disk partitions).

Previously I had the Drobo directly attached my PC.

Either way it shows up as though it were any other drive attached to my PC.

Assuming 5 disks of equal capacity and with dual disk redundancy enabled I find the actual capacity is about half the total of the 5 disks because the most of the rest is providing the ongoing continuity in the event of 2 of the disks failing without being replaced.

One is via LAN cable (Drobo 5N) and the other (Drobo 5C) via USB 3 connector.

Yes, that's what I use. Even though it is sold with single-computer licenses, I have a copy on every computer I use. It has a very good file manager that you can set up commander-style with two windows, etc, that I am completely dependent on. The syncronizer is very nice--it remembers operations you have done, it has numerous choices (duplicate, update if newer, etc.), and it shows you everything you are going to add, update, or delete from the target so that you can double check. It also pops up an additional dialog for confirmation if the operation will delete anything.

There are a number of similar alternatives. One is Directory Opus Pro, which I think may be more powerful but is more expensive (less than it looks, if you convert the currency).

You can buy Acer. Now a days they are making displays which are of 4k and looks very amazing. What ever you buy do not consider low quality display. As you are going to do editing you must have a good resolution display to see better. Search acer and see their latest laptops.
