Took a few of the pups while on the East side of the State.
Unfortunately, cut his legs off, yet I like his stance (showing his muscle) and expression (waiting to go back in water after a stick and get it before his sister).

the water droplets adds in showing us the type of environment the pup is in but yes the severe crop is unfortunate.

part of the problem I'm having is these pups don't stay still long. Within a second he was moving cuz he wanted the ball thrown in the water. I need to continue practicing.

Sharon - shoot wide and then crop in post. In images you post on the web, you can lose a lot of information around the edges of the image (assuming sharp focus and no camera movement). and still have a very strong image. That would be far better than cutting off the legs.

This is a very common approach is action photography.

that makes perfect sense. I will absolutely start working it from that angle. My wider angle prime lens would be perfect for that.
Sometimes the boy dog is so dang strong, (and excitable when seeing a critter to chase while I'm on the other end of the leash) I WISH I could cut off his legs! Kidding. Sort of.
