Deleting Lightroom Previews
Hello
I am doing some cleanup on my computer.
I have a hybrid drive.
My photos are on my D Drive
My Lightroom Catalog and Previews folder are on my C Drive (SSD drive).
I still have enough room for now to keep this configuration.
I noticed that my C Drive is getting full and I see that my Previews folder is taking up some significant space on the C Drive.
Going into Lightroom, I see that I can delete Previews (Library > Previews > Discard 1:1 Previews).
And, I can do this on a folder basis.
I do not build Smart Previews
I think this is an obvious question.
Is it a good idea to delete the 1:1 previews after I have finished working/post-processing photos within a folder?
This should save space on my C Drive. Correct?
And, if I want to work with that folder again, it is no big deal to regenerate 1:1 previews.
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Deleting Lightroom Previews
Yes, delete to your heart's content. Under catalog settings my normal preview is set to 2048 pixels and the 1:1 previews set to be automatically deleted after 30 days.
The only problem (other than the delay when scanning the catalog and waiting for the previews to be regenerated) I have had after deleting all my previews during a big clean up, was when I lost some photographs after deciding to shift them from one drive to another. As I did not have any previews to look at I did not know if the missing photographs were important or not. After a big hunt I did find them and they were not worth the effort.
