Nice work Antonio.
Nice one, are you saying your settings were in error?
I like the first image. Keep the negative space on the right.
Cheers Ole
These certainly live up to their title Antonio. I prefer the first.
I love the image of the yarn hanging. If it were mine, I'd crop it a tiny bit, darken the image a touch and increase the saturation and open the shadows of the yarn a little...
An image like this is entirely in the eye of the viewer. There is no right or wrong way, just the way that the viewer likes better.
Interesting and colorful.
Thank you all for the comments.
John, I am having some bit issues with the focus using my A7 III. It doesn't focus as precisely as I wish or rather where I wish !
The second shot was a bit more difficult to focus than the first one. I was near and with the 135mm which returns a very shallow DoF at that distance.
In the first one, the surface was rather flat and focus was easily obtained while on the second one I had to focus manually to reach the point I wanted or the point I wanted to be in focus.
If you look closely, you will find the end of the stick in perfect focus while I wanted the big, large orange form in focus.
The focus peaking is at it's minimum and many points were on. I do not understand was is going on or how its is going on.
I have used before a Canon 5D with red ring lenses and I had never this kind of problem. The focusing was not so sophisticated indeed...
I then moved to Olympus (5 Mk II) with primes and zooms and everything was OK.
Today I shot with Olympus in the morning and with Sony in the afternoon.
I have a worst rate of success with the Sony than with the Olympus in my shots. Shame on me !
OK, OK I know: "Don't blame the camera blame yourself"
Today, another bad experience. I think it is the choice of the focus area I have to learn about.
Sorry to disturbe you about this subject which has nothing to do with this thread. It is just that I am sad. And so my wife is because she is having the same problem.
Well... let's move on.
Thank you Richard for your version of the image. I really like it very much !
It's different and good. I wouldn't mind to have done it myself.
Have a good Sunday ! Cheers !
Hi Antonio, focus is just pertinent to this thread as the subject of colour, the issue with your focusing error is similar to one photographer's have photographing dogs with a long snout, although I wonder if this shot's issue was also due to wind/subject movement, although the distance from the orange flower to the stick protuberance is quite far and you were probably focusing higher up than the stick?
The focus on your flower shot seems to be at he close end of the stick... I would probably have been better to focus a bit further into the image and use a smaller aperture for wider DOF...
The Sony cameras are excellent tools but are a bit complicated to master...
I am getting more and more used to my Sony cameras. At first there was quite a learning curve - especially in the area of auto focus. However, as I get more used to the camera, I can make the little tweaks that enhance the focusing capability...
I was doing a shot last night when I couldn't achieve eye AF. Simply changing to continuous AF and wide focusing field solved that problem.
A couple of months ago, I would not have remembered how to do that!
Thank you John for your comment.
There was no wind and the little yellow squares were dancing around in that area.
Just my mistake caused by a bad choice of the focusing area.
On the other hand... do I have to change the dam focus area each time I have something different ? Of course not as I am just confused at this moment.
Learn, learn, learn...
Thank you Richard for your important comment.
You have to agree that it is not an easy work to change two settings just to have eye focus automatically.
Is the system sophisticated ? Oh yes, it is. Is the system versatile ? Not much.
Learn, learn, learn...
Cheers !
Especially love the first capture and some suggestions are positive.Too much as I see it in the second capture if not in focus to my liking.Great colors !!
Thank you Raymond for your comment.
I agree regarding the focus in the second shot.
I am beginning to "dominate the beast" these days...
I prefer the second, the ambiance, the background and the colors.
Merci Jean de votre commentaire !
De rien, ici, comme en anglais on peut se tutoyer
I had a glance on your site "images" It is stunning. Bravo.
Mais non... my images are not that good.
OK, OK I know some are good while others...
You know Jean, with time we change - obviously - and have different views and skills. That is the reason why sometimes I do not like my old photographs. However, I do like others and even "discover" old ones with great capabilities !
Cheers !
