    Re: 1rd Quarter - 5.th week of 2020

Going back to post #75. I see there is some old monofilament fishing net washed up there, which is something that happens all too often.

Some bits of netting will always be lost during the fishing process but I have known a few fishermen who disposed of their old nets by bundling them up and deliberately throwing them overboard despite there being waste collection facilities back in the harbour.

When I was fishing for a living, I always stripped down my old nets, during periods of bad weather, and remade them using the old ropes, which saved money. But some people, particularly the bigger boats, just ditched everything when the netting became worn and purchased ready made new nets each time.

The same applies to bits of rope, as with the other image (post #78). Most fishermen took their old odd ends of gear ashore for proper disposal but a few of them would simply throw all scrap ends overboard.

That building (post #76) is a nice idea but it is a pity that there is so much out of focus space in the bottom right corner.

I like the man and rubbish bin image which has a pleasing composition.

Thank you Geoff for your comment.

Obviously throwing nets overboard is a common practice all over the World and as we know, the oceans are trashed affecting animals and ourselves. Nylon nets degrade in micro plastics which we gladly consume. No way to escape.

And we are only referring to nets, we are not considering more important impacts of pollution made by for example, new and aged nuclear plants and other gifts thrown into the ocean, from the Human being. Needless to refer where these problems exist...
They are even going to make the 2020 Olympics in a polluted environment ! Money !

In photo 76 I didn't notice the out of focus area neither on capture nor in processing. The main subject is the water stream and the warehouse.
In the man with the phone in hand and the bin I used the crop factor 4/5

    Cheers !

    1rd Quarter - 5.th week of 2020

The 5.th week of the year is ending. The group of photography I gather every month decided to have the annual dinner.
We went to the usual restaurant where we have been talking and having fun.
I took the opportunity and offered 1 of my A5 printed Hahnemühle Fine Art paper images and 2 Ferrero Rocher to each participant. Yam, yam ! I ate a chocolate mousse instead !

I didn't photograph the food but only the images showed here, except the one I am in. Some shot were really bad and they were trashed.
It has been a pleasant evening and we ate well. Next years I hope to repeat the event.

Informal shots at events like this are always a struggle and if you start rearranging items before shooting you lose the relaxed atmosphere and get unnatural looking obviously posed images. So these have worked well.

    Thank you for commenting Geoff.

In the photo of the group we were waiting for the shot to be done. In this instance, I should have changed the settings of the camera so several shots should have been done. I would have some to choose from.

In the photo of three persons they were posing for somebody else, while the other two were done at the table waiting for the food, using a 55mm in FF

The overall light is rather yellowish but it is like that in real life.

I should have shot the food but it will be next time.

The photos are OK. I like them ! I appreciate how "clean" they look.

Have a nice week end !

    6.th week of 2020

What to photograph ? This fellow was not far away from me while waiting for somebody...
Himself, he was taking a picture with his phone of the panorama in a hight point of the town.
    A simple photograph. Nothing fancy

    Re: 6.th week of 2020

Just another thought about alternative cropping, Antonio.

There is quite a bit of an out of focus area in the bottom left corner which doesn't add anything to the scene, except distraction. So I wonder about a crop from the bottom and left side to lose that bit of wall which is jutting forward? I suspect that would produce a stronger composition.

Focus and exposure on what was a tricky light angle have both worked well.

Thank you Geoff for your comment.
Only you could make me go back to the card and recover the photo as I had erased it from the hard disk.
I started from scratch which resulted in the photo bellow. This time I tried harder than before and I was very careful working on the photo.
I made a stronger crop and cloned two areas, one on the right and another on the left.
Hope you find it OK this time. If you don't... let me know please.
    Cheers !

BTW - the lens is sharp as hell and I do like it !

That is a nice composition now, Antonio. Crisp looking wall with a bit of the decoration still visible and he has plenty of space in front of him.

    Sun and surf

What can I say about this photo ?
Not much. I was walking in town center when I saw this young woman surfing her phone.
    Simple and sharp.

Antonio - I prefer this new crop to the original. You've taken away a few distracting elements and that has strengthened the image.

The only small change I might make is to burn down the top of the wall and the roof. These just see a touch to "hot" for my taste.

    Well done Manfred !
I had already darkened a bit the roof and I "saw" the top of the wall but I was not clever enough to darken it.
Thank you for commenting and adjusting the image !

Post 92, what can be said, assuming she is at the beach, what is she reclining near and why isn't she enjoying it instead of her phone. Nicely seen and captured.

John, interesting interpretation of a photograph.
This is in plain city in a square where some 15 or 20 people were shooting a movie. The place - an urban irregular shape - has a large tree at the centre and around it some kind of bench where people seat, or lay down like here.
Just for the sake of perception: the square has no more than 30 meters or so, from one side to the other.
The weather is just fine now with temperatures about 20 Celsius degrees so, it is pleasant to take some Sun.
    Thank you for commenting !

    Broken

"Broken" is an artist project my wife is making to be exposed in a gallery in Setúbal. Just 6 images.
I joined her for a moment and made this shot.

    Re: Broken

I like the image in post #92. The background is rather complicated but it is sufficiently out of focus and doesn't bother me.

Not sure about the bottom left corner of the last image. Somehow I am not certain about that area working with the hand and arm which is the main subject. But let's see what other people think about it.

I like this image and my reasons are: It is sharp and clear, the window behind your group shows what is beyond but in a way, to me anyway, it seems like a mural behind them. You might have improved it a bit if you had burned the bright light that is in the upper part of the middle of the glass in the background. It is a little distracting.

It is an interesting image! I do enjoy following your progress!

    Thank you Sandy.
The light in the back is from the outside. It is a street one but it could be mistaken by the reflection of some flash.
As I am in the picture, the photograph was taken by the waiter.
There was other photos in horizontal orientation but as the camera was not correctly positioned, the wide angle deformation was too evident and troublesome.
The original photo is vertical so, I had to make a severe crop. The camera and the lens (mainly) are in fact, of excellent quality.
