Two young Hadiya Women

The Hadiya ethnic group lives in South-Central Ethiopia), i.e. south of Addis Ababa. This group happened to be Muslim, but there are Christians and ones who practice traditional faiths. They are not nomadic and live in permanent villages.

This shot shows two young Hadiya women. It's one of many shots I took in Ethiopia that had not been processed until today.

It's a beautiful capture, but I would do something to make the background less distracting--maybe smooth it out with a negative texture adjustment and darken parts.

The BG is not distracting to me. Rather it is a part of the environmental portrait and IMO the two women stand out against the BG due to their brightness and colors against the darker ans almost monochromatic BG of the hut...

Here's a light edit to illustrate what I mean. All I did was negative texture and a bit of negative clarity on the thatch and medium left and burn the bright area on the building to viewer's left. I might go farther, but this illustrates the direction I was thinking of.

Never been in Ethiopia... I would like to. We will see, we will see, what the future is like

Thanks Dan - that does calm things down a bit. I had already done a fair bit of dodging and burning and other PP work on the image. As a reference, this is the SOOC image. As always, it's great the get input from you and the other members!
