Interesting image. “Binned”?

Although I don't understand any of that, I think it's a wonderful image Ted, especially when viewed large in the lightbox.

I like it. It's like a cross between IR and something else Great composition.
You do have a number of dust bunnies that need cleaning up, and what appear to be a few hot pixels (white)
I like it, too, but I would clone out the fence post in bottom left corner.
Foveon sensors have high and low resolution modes. In low resolution, the photo-elements are binned 2x2 on-chip by shorting them together; thus 7.8um pixel pitch becomes 15.6um effectively. Files get smaller and the camera processes them pretty quick! They used to also have a medium res. mode - but that involved interpolation which is anathema to the average Foveonista.

Thanks. Utterly alien to many of the rest of us.

Philip, Peter, David,
Thanks to you all. I plan to revisit the raw and look into the hot pixels, dust bunnies and review that post at bottom left which I hadn't even noticed!
Good strong image, Ted, sensor dust aside.
The orange sky definitely gives the whole piece a strong but slightly disturbing look and feel. Images that have an emotional impact on the viewer are challenging to do and you have definitely succeeded here!
Nicely presented.
Thanks to all for comments and advice. Wasn't able to redo from scratch (lost sidecar file) so I edited the posted image and replaced it on my site. It can be reviewed in the first post. If the fence post is still there, please refresh the page. (F5 in Windows).
I did crop the fence post out, cloned a few dust spots and also gave it some haze reduction to increase the alien look.
Peter, the apparently hot pixels are bright reflections and I was much too enthusiastic with the sharpening/microcontrast so I toned it down with a dose of impulse noise reduction.
I really like the lonely tree and its shadow... i wonder whether he is much ahead of the mass of behind it...
.....impulse noise reduction.
Something else I've not seen before. Obviously there is so much more to learn.
Philip
Sorry about that, Phil! It's a very useful RawTherapee tool:
"Suppresses salt-and-pepper noise - sudden white and black pixels, which remind one of salt and pepper sprinkled over a photo. This is done after demosaicing."

Thank you, Ted.

Re posted to make a typo correction and clarification....I really like the lonely tree and its shadow... i wonder whether he(the lonely tree) is much ahead of the mass (of trees) or behind it...
