Someone has to start a Christmas Lights thread
I have passed this house for several years and each year the decorations are more elaborate. Each year, I have told myself that I am going to photograph it but, whenever I passed it I either didn't have time or didn't have a camera. This time I had a camera and some time so I parked the vehicle, rolled down the window, set the A7iii with the 28-75mm Tamron lens at 1/40 second at f/2.8 and IS 3200, rested the camera on the window and shot the house.
I love Christmas decorations - let's see your shots...

I take it that the occupier is not signed up to a green climate change message!

Nicely and captured, I'm surprised there isn't an ordinance in place to ban outdoor lights to prevent brush fires or at least require inspection of displays.

Christmas and New Year wish
In Portugal there is not such a way to decorate a house. I have never seen such a laborious work.
My front neighbour use a small line of some 50 or 70 LED lights over one on his trees. Sometimes a small Santa climbs a balcony in a house or building nearby...
I take the opportunity to

Re: Christmas and New Year wish
This front yard makes my first post look understated. I personally think that this display is overdone and garish. I was able to stop the vehicle and get out to shoot this. The lights were so bright that I was able to use at 1/80 second at f/4.5. I wonder what this guy's electric bill for the month of December is? He sits out in his driveway in a Santa (St. Nicholas / Father Christmas) outfit and distributes candy to the mobs of passing kids. I would liked a shot of him doing so but, when I passed by, he was on a break from his candy distribution duties...
The viewing crowds were so heavy that it was difficult to get an angle for a shot and the use of a tripod would have been impossible, hence the hand-held image.
However, IMO, while I think that this display is less than artistic, I don't think that there is anything any more wrong with a person doing a private display if he desires to and can afford to do so than a commercial enterprise decorating their premises; like the Del Coronado Hotel, Across the bay from San Diego, California. https://www.google.com/search?q=Chri...SIZdLZM:&vet=1
I hope to visit that site this season right at the golden hour. Additionally, there is a wonderful area nearby from which I can get a great shot of the holiday lights of San Diego Across the Bay. They also have an ice skating rink on the beach side of the hotel which would be neat to shoot at golden hour with the ocean in the background..
