Fireworks are frequently photographed with a very slow shutter speed; but I have always preferred a more natural effect, as you have achieved with these images.

Luckily, I was photographing some elaborately lighted boats prior to the fireworks show so I had time to adjust the camera to the settings I used here, sometimes out of frustration I'll switch to one of the presets on the camera which would've given me the slow shutter speeds you mention. I've never liked the settings chosen by the camera although it does do a good job with the WB settings, thanks for commenting.
