    Yorkie

While I still love Maltese and think that they are beautiful dogs, it is a lot of fun doing portraits of dogs who are other colors than solid white, such as Mia a 10-year old Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) who has come to us to find a new home because her owner passed away...

    Yorkie

Although the loss of their human is traumatic for a dog, I am guessing that it is less traumatic when they find their way into a foster home and live integrated with humans and other dogs.

Mia spent this evening in my lap while we both watched football bowl games on T.V. GO SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY 41-11 victory over Central Michigan University

And yes, her eyes are becoming a bit cloudy and she is also a bit had of hearing. But, being a small dog, she still has a lot of years of love left in her!

My mother had a miniature Yorkie it was one of the most vicious dogs I've ever known. Kind of teeth in, ask questions later.
    But we all loved it.

    Terrier Instincts

IMO biting tendencies is a trait that could be mitigated by early training. However, although the Yorkies are mostly kept as lap dogs now, they are terriers and can have terrier instincts.

I have a small citrus grove on my acre of property. The fallen oranges and tangerines attract field rats. I have a Rough Coated Jack Russell Terrier who is the scourge of these vermin.

    Yorkie

When I see a rat laying with its neck broken - I know that Sasha has done her job. I often marvel at the dual tendencies of Sasha.: sweet and loving companion and vicious killer of vermin.
