    Flying Scotsman

As this is much a picture of the crewman as of the engine, I thought "people and pets" was the more appropriate section to post in.

I was lucky to be treated by my partner to a day out on a train trip. 1930's Pullman coaches pulled by the famous Flying Scotsman engine. Here is a shot of the engine and crewman during a short stop at Appleby station in the Lake District.

This is what it was hauling. 15 carriages. Breakfast and dinner served for 180 passengers during a 12 hour trip. Quite an experience.

    Flying Scotsman

Well captured, the addition of arched footbridge with the people crossing works well

    Nicely done, as always, Peter.

This certainly brings back the view of the "golden age of train travel" very well. This work has inspired me to rework one of my train images that has a person as a prominent element in the image.

Thanks to all for the comments. This is video from last Saturday of the train crossing the famous Ribblehead viaduct. Don't miss the end at 5.35 when on the way back we thunder through Penrith Station. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu5WdxPeIB0

This is what trains are supposed to look and sound like !!

I am absolutely in love with these pictures. They convey a certain feeling, it reminds me of the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter movies. I was looking for inspiration for my animation and this fits perfectly. I wanted to animate something akin to the Murder on the Orient Express and needed visual references. I contemplated setting it in the present-day but trains like these https://www.dbfahrplanauskunft.com/de/ while definitely modern have a design that is too slick and minimalistic. The train you captured and the way you did it are perfect. Great job! I will definitely be using this as a reference for my animation.

This brought back memories. We were lucky we did the trip in December 2019 as the 2020 schedules were all cancelled.

I recall traveling from London to Edinburgh on just such a train in the mid-50's. A horrible 12-hr trip with standing room only. Pardon me if I lack nostalgia ...
