    Arctic Fox

These little puffy foxes were in full winter gear.

They are beautiful, Manfred! You did not take any shots with you crouched down?

These shots were taken looking down a hill, with a long lens (150 - 500mm), so crouching down would not have made any difference with respect to PoV / shooting position.

A challenging subject and background, yet executed with aplomb! Well done, Manfred.

Beautiful shots especially the second one. Must be nice walking around in the crisp cool air? A few days ago we had 42 degrees Celsius here (107 f). Not nice!

Manfred, I'd always imagined that Arctic foxes were in the Arctic, not in the Ottawa area. Were you travelling upnorth (although the tree perhaps suggests otherwise)?

These animals are native to the boreal forest and the location is at the southern end of the area.

I spent four months on a drilling site up by Deadhorse, Alaska, and there were indeed some up there - not surprisingly. We were warned not to try to pet them, rabies being quite common ...
