    Lightjet printing

John Watts of Watts Digital Imaging and a Photoshop Instructor uses a LightJet printing.

I have not had one of my images printed by John but, if this image
    Lightjet printing
is accepted for display at the San Diego County Fair for 2020. I will have the entry printed by John.

I have not viewed a comparison between InkJet and LightJet prints but, the LightJet prints that John has showed me have been spectacular.

Sorry Richard, but you have been taken in by the advertising.

This is a standard low-end printing process you will find at your neighbourhood Costco store.

Chromogenic is a new fancy name for silver halide photo paper made by the likes of FujiFilm or Kodak. LightJet is the trademarked name for a series of optical printers owned by Canon. Durst, FujiFilm Frontier, Agfa and Noritsu also make this technology. People use it because of its low cost. It looks like they are using the well known FujiFilm Crystal Archive paper; just like Costco does.

It is the least expensive method of making colour prints and they have a relatively short life (20+ years) versus inkjet.

If you want a high-end print, check out the custom inkjet print shops; the image quality will be far higher.
