Bison in the snow
Another shot from my recent trip to Parc Omega; a couple of bison in the snow.
These two are not native to this part of Canada...

Re: Bison in the snow
Well done image in challenging conditions. Experience has taught me that Bison are difficult animals to photograph in the snow because of heir heavy and very dark coats...

Really lovely work Manfred. I agree with Richard as regards the difficulty of shooting with those dark, light-sucking coats! You have risen to the challenge as always!

Great, white snow and dark bison - together.
Cheers Ole

Re: Bison in the snow
I guess I shoot in snow so often that it generally does not present a challenge.
I generally set my camera at +1 exposure compensation to start and vary that by 1/3 - 2/3 stops, based on what I see on my histogram. Once in post, opening up the shadows unlocks the fur, even on a relatively sunny day. This shot was taken mid-afternoon and the light was still quite harsh.

Re: Bison in the snow
Great image. I was amazed how soft a Bison fur is the first time I felt it
