Twenty Seven U.S. Dollar Upgrade to Sony A6600
I like to use this camera one handed when I do my dog portraits since I will often use the other hand to offer a treat or a squeeze toy to get the dog's attention.
The Animal Eye-AF as well as the larger size grip (designed to accommodate the larger battery) makes using this camera with a one-handed hold pretty easy.
However, I have added a pair of accessories which makes the camera even easier to use one handed and makes shooting in general more pleasurable.
The L bracket increases the height of the grip and allows a place to wrap my small (pinky) finger around. It also provides an attachment point at the bottom of the grip for the hand strap.
The OEM attachment for the strap, which screws into the tripod screw socket, prevents changing the SD card or camera battery without removing the attachment while, battery/SD compartment access is enabled when the hand strap is attached to the bottom of the L bracket. NOTE: Not all L brackets have an attachment point for a hand strap...
The additional weight of the L bracket and strap in comparison to the extra hand-hold capability is minimal.
Of course, the L bracket also allows mounting the camera to an Arca Compatible tripod clamp in either vertical or horizontal position which is the major purpose of the L bracket. I can mount the camera to the Arca clamp even when the hand strap is attached.
The L bracket also allows the attachment of a cold-shoe on the side of the camera which is good for mounting an accessory microphone (which I don't own since I do minimal video) so that it will not block the view of the flip up screen when shooting selfies or for blogging...
BTW: This eBay L bracket seems to be manufactured every bit as well as the Really Right Stuff L Brackets I have previously purchased for my Canon DSLR cameras and it costs but a fraction of the price of the RRS unit...
