What excactly are you looking at?

This image was taken at a recent exhibition by Basquiat and Haring. The painting exhibited here is by Haring. I thought is was amusing - or maybe not, that the two people sitting down were not looking at anything in particular. C&C most welcome.

Your assumption of the gallery visitors is just that, while I look at the man he seems to be looking directly at you, but then again he could be lost in thought and not focused on anything in particular, the same goes for the woman, is she looking at the painting in front of her or at the plaque beside it and could it contain information related to the painting or is it a sign warning against touching the painting. So your caption fits the composition quite well, we just don't have enough information to make any assumption. Nicely seen and captured.

I would say she is looking at the third figure on the lower left. I generaly find photos taken in art galleries interesting. I like this one. I use to pass the artist work daily. His "Crack is Wack" murual on a handball court wall on the Harlem River Drive in Manhattan.

Ole - you have the makings of an interesting image, but the tight crop at both ends draws the viewer there instead of the connections between the three elements in the capture; the two people and the painting.

Open those parts up in post and you have the makings of something very interesting.

My first thoughts were exactly the same as Manfred; although I was considering a slightly different solution by 'moving' the left side bench a little closer to the centre and a balancing crop. But that does depending on whether the backgrounds could be merged together without any obvious difference in colour tones.

I wouldn't look at it either, after a quick glance.

You are right Manfred. Your edit is better. How did you open the spaces?

A combination of Photoshop CC 2020 Content Aware Fill and some cloning.
