Clone stamp tool not working - again

I have reinstalled photoshop, reset tools, restarted computer, manipulated the size of stamp (works sometimes). All the other tools are working fine.

It has never been this bad before. I have always been able to retrieve stamp. Not this time, alas

Check you are working on a top layer. Check Mode; Opacity; and flow settings. (normal 100% 100%)

The clone stamp decided to work again. I did absolutely nothing different. Something is not quite right with the clone stamp. this is not the first time this has happened.

I did lock out a few times. Has anyone else encountered this problem. Do know about opacity, flow settings and so forth.

This time I changed the opacity back and forward a few times. It worked for some reason.

It played up again but by moving the opacity and/or flow sliders back and forth it rights itself - eventually.

Sounds like the modern day equivalent of thumping the TV when it was on the blink !!

Perhaps you are running out of memory on your computer ?

Indeed. I experienced similar issues from time to time on my old computer

My mistake. On checking my pc I have 9 gb left out of 16 gb of ram
