Pixma Pro 100 printer problems
I received a Canon Pixma Pro 100 Inkjet Printer from Adorama when I purchased the Canon 6D Mark-2 several years ago.
I never used it because I seldom print photos.
However my wife wants to have the capacity to print images at home and asked me to set the printer up.
First step after unpacking is to turn the power on.
I hit the power button and waited for it to turn a solid white. Instead the white "on light" began flashing intermittently with the amber "error light"...
After some research, I learned that if these lights flash intermittently - the Canon Service Center needs to be contacted.
1. Does anyone know why the lights might be flashing - the printer has never been used and I have not even loaded the ink. The print head will not center when I open the top of the printer.
2. In the event that the problem will be too costly to fix - does anyone have a recommendation for another inkjet printer. I would especially like one that is simple to use so that my wife can use it...

Check for packaging materials or tape left inside the printer. That happened to me with my printer.

Re: Pixma Pro 100 printer problems
Richard, +1 to Manfred's comment. As regards an alternative recommendation, I purchased a Canon IP 8750 last year to be used primarily for non photographic printing. (My Canon Pro 10S is excellent, but quite slow for document printing, and the IP8750 is much speedier.) It is considerably cheaper (about 50%) than the 10s...
I did, out of curiosity, run a few image prints for comparison with the 10s and was quite impressed with the output quality and used it to produce my annual 'Christmas card'

Re: Pixma Pro 100 printer problems
My local printer repair shop (whom I have done business with in the past and whom I trust) stated that repairs to the printer would cost more than the price of a new a new Canon Pixma 8720. Since, I would also need to purchase a new set of ink cartridges for the Pro-100, I decided to purchase a new Canon Pixma 8720 at $200 USD from Amazon who will deliver it to my home tomorrow.
As per YouTube, lots of ladies use the 8720 for printing their scrap booking and craft projects. Therefore my wife is quite happy with the purchase...
