    Dancer at Kumeu Show

Was struck by the pose I had captured. Whilst the background was very bland, I thought I could jazz it up a bit.
    What do you think please?

Very nice capture of the subject.

Interesting choice of background versus subject colors. Almost "analogous":

I wonder if "complementary" (opposite) but less saturated background colors would have brought out subject more ... ?

I dont mind the background, but I find the subject lacking sharpness.

Well, Ted, it's not often that I have to check on the meaning of a word, but today and to check 'analogous'. I guessed at synchronicity, but was wrong. Apparently it means "comparable in certain respects, typically in a way which makes clearer the nature of the things compared."

Anyway, many thanks for your feedback.

Yes, Peter, this is cropped a lot. I have applied a smallish amount of high-pass filter sharpening.

Nice effort, would've been more expressive if more of the body were visible.

Sorry Jim - this one isn't working all that well for me. The softness of the missed focus and the solid background colours overwhelm your subject. What did the original background look like?

I think the image should be about the subject not the background

Hi Manfred and Ole, here is the 'original', but as you say, missed focus.

Regardless of the background the composition seems off for me , would crop the bottom up to the black top. The face seems to be lacking sharper detail (Out of focus).
