    Salar de Chiguana

I'm teaching a course on making panorama image in a couple of weeks at one of the local photo clubs, so I have been busy creating material to talk to. I'm looking at taking in three or more prints (17" x 47" / 430mm x 120mm). This is a shot of one of the smaller salt flats that lies south of the famous Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia.

The "rule" in panos is that one has to include material that is of interest to the viewer in every section of the image. These tend to be so large that people view them in "zones". The other "rule", especially for prints is that they rarely work well once the image exceeds a 3:1 width to height ratio.

Time to bring out the roll of paper again....

Everything works in this image... It has a definitive start and end to the pano which IMO is one factor that separates a "finished" pano from just a shot of the horizon!
