You are very welcome. I think that by studying some of the discussions held here in past threads (for example, type in 'camera purchase' in the Tags section under 'Advanced Search' and you will find lots of views about what equipment to buy.
If you haven't already done so, please be sure to read post #1 of this thread HERE which will help you get started. Also our Code of Conduct in the FAQ HERE
CiC is a resource strongly focused towards learning, no matter what your current level of knowledge, skills and experience. As well as these forums, where you can engage in discussion, ask questions and seek comment and criticism on your pictures, CiC has a comprehensive range of tutorials that, by common consent, are amongst the most sensible and straightforward that you can find anywhere. Remember to have a look on the tutorials and techniques pages which you can access from the menu bar.
And finally, the Mod team thought it might be a useful addition to CiC to have in-house access to some selected video tutorials. You can find them in the Community Lounge forum under 'Photography Video Tutorials'.

Glad you like it and welcome to the site.
Now, in terms of location, Australia is a big place. You should give us an area or region so we know where you are. There are lots of your country men and women on here (we do try to control the numbers, but it's difficult!!). You should go to the thread about the CiC Google Map, from where you can go to the map and stick a pin on it.

I'm delighted that you get a good feeling about CiC. Hopefully being a member on here can help you make the improvements that you want.
I don't think there are any other active members from Malaysia at the moment.

Congratulations on the new purchase. Hopefully your now just getting used to handling the camera and finding how to operate everything. Once it all becomes automatic and you are making adjustments without even having to think about it, you'll know your camera.

Greetings from The Lone Star State -- Texas. My name is Greg and am new to this forum. I have only recently switched from film to digital, by recently I mean Nov. 2010. I have done mostly livestock photography for advertising purposes, but have started doing more sports photography lately. Looking forward to learning and getting up to speed with the change to digital. I am shooting with a Nikon D700 and am loving this camera.

Thank you for the opportunity to meet and to learn. My interests are influenced by the geography surrounding me. I live in what I would call Serengeti North. Other people know it as Yukon. Wildlife including wolves, bear, deer and caribou use the trails on my property. My home, thirty five kilometers north of Whitehorse, sits directly under a major flyway and the subarctic light is spectacular year-round. I don't do much architectural stuff :) .... yet
I am at the very entry of the learning curve but have set some high expectations; I'll know when I reach the goal. For the moment I'll be watching, noting, and listening to all everyone's opinions then trying the techniques quietly on my own. Someday I might feel bold enough to post something but for now: I'll just learn. Thank you.

Hello and welcome. Could you tell us your real name. We tend to go mainly with real names on the site and you can edit your profile and put it in so that it appears on all your posts.
I think you've found the best photography website for helping you with your learning. I hope you'll post some images when you feel ready to do so. But in the meantime, as well as reading and watching, please do come in with any questions that you have. As people on here have said before, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Hi everyone
Glad I've found this website as I am new to photography and am currently doing the photography institute diploma hence the reason I have started with a pentax k-x camera with the intent of upgrading once I get to grips with it. Hi all,
My name's Adriaan and I have been playing and learning about photography. I have been practicing for less than a year now and I'm loving every moment of it.
During the day I'm a designer (user interface designer) and love to fuel my creativity with photography.
Awesome!

Hello,
My name is Gabriel. I live in France at Le Mans. I discovered the forum by a friend (Tb72). I am also French.
Written English is not easy for me, but it is a good exercise for me.
I practice for ten years of photography. I start with the car rally and photography landscape. Then I became interested in photography, sports (football, handball, hockey ...). I have always loved and practiced wildlife photography. I discovered two years ago photography equestrian (show jumping).
I will find the forum and posted some pictures

You've cleared the first hurdle - getting image successfully uploaded into your posts.
The 'problem' is that a lot of regular members don't come into this forum to look at messages regularly. So .......
What I'd suggest is that you go into the People and Pets Forum and hit the 'Create New Thread' button and post them up in that. Tell people that you're a new member and looking for some comments and criticism. More folk will see them there.
