That's nice to hear. And a big, warm welcome to you, Lisa.
When I saw your post coming up on the list in Latest Threads, it said "Hi, I'm Lisa Skull ..." and I thought to myself, 'Now, that's an interesting name', but then I opened your message and saw how the text was laid out.
But you're still very welcome!
I'm sure CiC will be a place where you can develop your knowledge and skills. Just dive in with all your questions.

I live in Costa Rica (no, it isn't Puerto Rico!!), therefore my pictures are probably never going to show snow nor bad weather. On the contrary, they are going to present the beautiful beaches and tropical landscapes of this region.
I hope I can contribute substantially with the community!
Thanks a lot!
PD: I submit a photo of mine, I'm not really sure how to get the appropriate quality, I'm just embed one from facebook or flickr.

Hi Dorothy,
Glad to have you aboard the good ship "CiC" :)
What camera do you take your pictures of "anything" with?
More importantly; when can we see some?
Welcome to the CiC forums from ....

Hello Everybody!!
My name is Ganesh. I come from Bangalore working in a software firm as a developer. I'm just a hobby photographer. My interest is capturing people's expression and nature photography. I recently got a DSLR and I'm still exploring all its options. I got some useful tips from a Spanish photographer [Jesus Gutierrez] when I met him in Hampi. The most value lesson he taught me was "if you want to improve your skills work in manual mode". Thanks to Jesus G I have fair bit of idea when to use what exposure/DOF/ISO combination.
Hope to learn more here.
Cheers,
OK G HAS THE ANSWER

What excellent advice. I agree totally. Interestingly someone has just been asking me about the same thing. If you click here you can read it.
But apart from that - Ganesh, you are very welcome. Congratulation on acquiring your new DSLR. I hope we shall see some of your images being posted very soon.

Hello,
BeckyM here in Ohio, USA. I am just starting to change careers, after almost 30 years driving a school bus I am going back to school:eek: to learn more about photography. I just got my first DSLR and am loving it. I have loved capturing memories for years but always with a point and shoot. This is a challenge at my age but very enjoyable. It is so nice to meet so many people from all over.

I am James, living in the Nations Capitol (US), actually across the river in VA. Have been involved in photography for forty ± years, various formats etc. Was mixing own emulsions until I retired from National Gallery of Art (DC) and lost my darkroom. Now learning digital imagery and taking class on Web Design (Dreamweaver™) and hope to have Web site connected to my images. Doing a different method of HDR and want to learn to HDR scanned negative and hoping someone out there reading this may add to my limited knowledge.
Attached image shot three days ago, HDR (7 exposures) using PS CS5 software for merge and then covert to greyscale via LR 3.
Nikon D3 Zeiss 50mm 1/60± f/8
If anyone does HDR scans contact me please. Later to all, James

Sully (Is that you real name? If not, you can put it into your profile so it shows up on all your posts).
Whatever - you're very welcome and I hope CiC becomes a first port of call for everything you want to discuss about photography. Learning is what this site is about.
That's quite an arsenal you've got there. I look forward to seeing some of your work.

Hello and welcome.
Now, here's a man whose knowledge and experience will, I am sure, be hugely valuable to other members. Hope you feel able to pitch in with help and support to others.
If you edit your profile and put your name in 'Real Name', then it will appear in the side bar against all your posts. The folks will know what to call you.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I just got a Canon Rebel T2i. (3 weeks old) Today I am going to finish my assignment of apeture and depth of field for posting. If I can get out of the snow long enough. :D I still have trouble manipulating the computer so it is a list of learning.

Hi everyone. My name is Doug and I’m new to "serious" photography. I have enjoyed the tutorials and viewing all the great photos here, so decided to join the group. Now that I am retired I finally have some time on my hands to learn about photography. It is a steep learning curve. My goal is simply to take some decent photos, mainly for vacations. I recently upgraded to a Canon EOS 60D, from my Lumix DMC-TZ3, which was, and still is, a handy little point and shoot. I’m still exploring the Canon, but not beyond the program settings. Looking forward to learning more.
Cheers,
Doug

Doug
Delighted to welcome you into the CiC fold and I hope you do find this the place to continue to learnign and development in photography.
I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorials. I think the debates, discussions and analysis of work that goes on in these forums are the perfect complement to what is in the tutorials. So, rest please do feel able to get right into discussion and the asking of questions.

Hello everyone, My name is Selma and I am currently enrolled in an online course to get my BS in Photography. I have always loved taking photographs and figured I may as well learn the ins and outs and techniques to take my photography to the next level. I own a Nikon D40 and am still learning all of what it does and can do. I look forward to learning all I can from this site and my college classes and of course through trial and error. I enjoy outdoor; landscape, nature type photography the most. I have attached a few of my favorite photographs .....
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Burkhard
Hello and a warm welcome into CiC.
I think you'll find there are quite a few people on here who share many of your interests other than photography. I look forward to seeing some of your work (including the pictures of that grandchild) and seeing you involved in the discussion on here.

Hello everyone; Jello from Jelloshotz Photography here. I'm based in SoCal but often get the opportunity to shoot in other states. Primarily I shoot people, mostly intimate and erotic art photos but I love shooting traditional B&W photos and landscapes. Recently I've started experimenting with light painting and anyone with advice or tips on shooting landscapes and people with light painting would be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's work and learning from everyone.
Sincerely;
Jello
