Hello everyone, My name is Selma and I am currently enrolled in an online course to get my BS in Photography. I have always loved taking photographs and figured I may as well learn the ins and outs and techniques to take my photography to the next level. I own a Nikon D40 and am still learning all of what it does and can do. I look forward to learning all I can from this site and my college classes and of course through trial and error. I enjoy outdoor; landscape, nature type photography the most. I have attached a few of my favorite photographs .....

Thanks so much for the welcome and I have posted a couple of images in my general album, to view. I have recently bought the Nikon D 7000 and trying to get to grips with it. My other camera is the Nikon D 80 which I have taken over +- 14 000 images in total.

Please do absorb - learning is very much what CiC is about. But remember also that a) the only dumb question is the one that you don't ask and, b) coming into comment in threads and give your opinions is also a great way to learn. It builds up your critical awareness.

Hi - my name is Colin and I'm based in Sawbridgeworth, UK. I am an amateur photographer. I originally shot film starting way back in the 70's with a Russian Zenit E, progressing via an Olympus OM10 to a Nikon 801s. I switched to digital in 2004 with a Nikon D70 then moved on in 2007 to a Nikon D200, which is my main camera. I currently have 4 lenses, the Nikon 18-200 VR, Nikon 70-300 VR and Nikon 105 Macro VR and a Sigma 10-20. My main interest is in landscape photography, in the broadest sense. Here is one of my favourite images.

My photography adventure also started with a Zenit camera which I borrowed for several years from my father who used to be a keen photographer. Since then I've shot film, mostly with "point and shoot" cameras but also with the Zenit, and also digital, again with P&S cameras but also with dSLR's.

My current main camera is a Nikon D80 which I've had for mmmmm maybe 3 to 4 years. Many people are upgrading from this body as it's a few years old, but I'm still happy with it - I guess I haven't yet outgrown it. I still have lots to learn, which is why I've joined here. Hopefully I'll pick a few things up. If the photos in the gallery are anything to go by, I guess I'm in the right place.

Just three and a teleconverter actually. I have a short zoom (Nikkor 18-135mm - this was the kit lens), a longer zoom (Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 which is kinda dark, noisy and slow) and also a Nikkor 50mm f1.8 which is my favourite. The teleconverter is a Tamron 1.4x and it doesn't work well with the D80 - basically it requires manual, though it is supposed to be automatic. Additionally I have a male-to-male converter ring which I use to reverse mount the 50mm lens onto the front of the Tamron 300mm, this is a rather rough and ready way of getting extreme macro but it works, after a fashion...

I was gifted with a Nikon D60 with 18-55mm lens this December and I don't know much about photography! I am fortunate enough to come across this webpage which is helping me a lot. I am still struggling with the aperture and ISO and shutter speed and hoods, etc. Your threads are helping a lot. I intend to focus on nature shots and sports. Thanks for allowing me to be a member.
